1. An Internet troll, or simply troll in internet slang  is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Now, I will tell you the fact of what the gmod community is made up for no reason at all.

30% trolls, 30% DarkRP’s, 20% Elitists and 10% Normal Members. I always see talk on “omg dis is how we r gona improve rp”. To be honest, to fix the RolePlay Community, you need to remove the trolls and elitists.

CREATION.

After asking a moderator, he said it was fine to post a little advertisement about my new roleplay community. Since we’re finally launching this Friday, I thought it prudent to inform a larger slice of the GMOD community in hopes to bring in some new faces or bring back people that have been angry at the state of GMODRP for some of the following reasons; Drama, DarkRP, Minginess, Hate for TnB, Bored of HL2RP, etc. If your one of those above mentioned haters, please take the time to read through this post and check us out because I promise it will be a different and unique experience.

A lot of the inspiration for this community spawns from the lack of a truly serious, fun, and free  community that has administrators that understand the value of a good working environment for role players to immerse themselves in. Currently, a lot of GMOD is dominated by either serious/mediocre HL2RP or Unserious “RLRP” and it’s been that way for awhile now. With that in mind, I along with the Creation administration team decided to found and start up this community to provide a brand new experience. Many of us being ex-administrators from TnB, know the problems and stigma that community has developed within the general populace of GMOD and brought together Creation as a refresher to RP on GMOD. So without further ado I am reposting excerpts and adding a bit to our opening blog post from a few weeks ago.

Q: What is Creation?

A: Creation is a brand new serious role-play server/community spawned from the need and want for change through a variety in role-play. We hope to provide a serious role-play intensive atmosphere for rich character development and long lasting story lines to spawn from.

Q: How is Creation different?

A: Simple. For starters we’re not using DarkRP. There are no stats. There is no hunger mod to force people to play “The Sims”, there are no magical weapon spawning, and you can’t just press a button to become something, you have to work at it. If you want to be a Police Officer, then you have to develop your character to become one and then apply. If you want to be the Mayor, you have to gain the support of a major party, finance your campaign, and then get elected by your fellow community members. This community is your chance to have fun and choose what you want to be, but you have to understand roleplay to get to that point, so when you are in that position, you understand what your doing. When these positions are taken for granted in such scripts like DarkRP or the various scripts that add onto the same design, it devalues the position, and on the whole devalues the roleplay. We understand that. We know the problems with roleplay communities, from my own experience running Taco N’ Banana, while HL2RP, i developed as a role player there and i developed as an roleplay administrator there. Secondly, we’re not HL2RP, it seems that it is a beaten to death RP genre on GMOD. After playing and experiencing it for over a year, i no longer have interest in that restrictive environment and that’s why i founded Creation. Freedom of roleplay in a serious, structured environment. That’s what Creation is to me. And that’s what differentiates us from the pack.

Q: What models are you using?

A: For your first model when creating a character you will be able to choose from a selection of models real life themed models that are a bit plain and dirty. Police officers and SWAT will be have matching uniforms that go along with their duties, Cops have actual Police attire and SWAT have tactical gear, no more HL2 models to pollute the visuals. Finally players will be able to purchase additional clothing for in-game money such as casual, suits, and misc. clothing to deck out their players. The car models are all from various car packs, however purchasing a car will be fairly expensive, especially sports cars that will be priced to meet real life pricing. Such as the Buggatti Veyron worth $1.4 million USD. This is to ensure that value is maintained and kept. All of these models are here to add to the environment and immersion into our world.

Q:  What genre of role-play is Creation?

A:We are attempting to create our own genre thus why we coined it “Serious Urban Role-play” which is a spin off of the “Real Life RP” genre. But really who wants to role-play real life and who will be role-playing real life anyways? That’s why I’ve hated the name for that genre of role-play. Instead we chose “Serious Urban Role-play” because the RP of creation will be based out of our fictional city “New Hope”, in which the premise for our RP roots out of our four main factions;

* New Hope Municipality: The government of New Hope. We plan to start the server off with a special election for Mayor due to the previous Mayor of New Hope being indited for corruption charges. This is for players who wish to run the gears of the government and play their hand in the political game. We plan to have a rich political system, complete with a law code for the city as well as other functions including players able to apply for government funding for player created “public works” such as city transportation (Fritz is in charge of), the Fire Department, and anything anyone wishes to apply for. The Mayor is a serious position, they will be in charge of the cities funding and budget as well as the the ability to create and remove laws. We will have elections monthly, where any player can run if they get enough money to finance their campaign, and get the needed signatures to run.

New Hope Police Department: This of course is the police force in the city, this is being run by Ixius. This as everything is one of the paths a player can choose to take, whether they play as a corrupt or virtuous cop, the choice is up to the player. But be warned, just like real life, corrupt cops can be prosecuted to the full extent of the law or better yet, shot in a crime deal gone wrong. The police department is fully organized, with a roster, and other features to guide the roleplay. Unlike DarkRP, you can not just do /votecop or press a button to become a cop. You must fill out an application on the forum in order to become one. And i assure you that the application process will assist you greatly in creating and developing your character.

Criminal Organizations: At the start of the server, there will be two “already” established organizations to spark role-play within this faction. However any player can attempt to overthrow these two organizations and take “turf”. When a player run gang overthrows and completely eliminates an established organization, they take their place, as well as the OOC benefits that come with being one of the top criminal establishments. These guys will be running the black market transactions at the start. No weapons will come out of thin air. If there’s illicit guns being traded its because of these guys smuggling them in.

* The Irish Mob – Run by none other than Bennet Dyson

Business: The final path for a player to choose is the business path. Businesses just like the other factions will get OOC benefits to compliment their role-play with if they become successful enough. Businesses can range from banks to car dealerships to clothing retailers. We plan to have a strong economic system so that money isn’t worthless like it is on other role-play servers. Become accepted and successful enough and you get your own forum board to assist in the organization of your Business. Businesses will also be able to keep their property permanently with certain restrictions in order to develop a real thriving economy. Check out our forums for more information.

Q: What map is Creation using?

A: rp_EvoCity_v2d, i recommend downloading this fantastic map right away. The reason we chose to go with this map is because it provides us with functioning roads for our vehicle system, multiple own able buildings for our permanent ownership system (A core feature of Creation Script), and the perfect environment for our fictional city named “New Hope”. We plan to switch to EvoCity 2 when it is released and transfer over all property ownership to the best of our ability.

Q: What year/time does Creation take place?

A: 1999, the month corresponds to the real life month it is now. The specific date and time of the day is up to the individual however.

Q: What script is Creation using?

A: We are designing and developing our own in-house script for the server with features that only compliment role-play rather than distract. After much debate we decided to use TS 1.5 for our GUI. The script is being developed by Pac300, Disseminate, and Ace and has been coming together nicely. We of course are always interested in adding new developers to the team if they are willing to contribute something whether it be web/art/lua/etc development. If you or someone you know are interested, contact me over SF: Eatdamuffin, an ideal developer will have the skills necessary to work within a team as well as the mentality to take criticism to ideas/development. A lot of our script will be built as we go on just like any other script. We are hoping to pick up some more developers to assist and bring to life our designs on the way. All i can say is if your a developer looking for a serious minded community that will value and appreciate your contributions then Creation is your place.

Q: Does Creation have a Server/Website/Ventrilo?

A: Yes, we have already purchased a 42 slot GMOD server for the community as well as script testing. The server is currently closed for development and will be open when we are ready to launch.

Bored.

HL2RP is getting old and frail, nothing new has been invented. It’s the same routine everyday, maybe i’m staring to hate roleplay again. I need to find something new, Lately, I’ve been playing Left4Dead. (Zombie RP anyone?)

(p.p.s i know that ZombieRP exists, but most of the servers are shit and run on an edited DarkRP. Maybe I should edit tacoscript or cakescript once more and make Zombie Survival RP on silenthill. I could make a script, but I’m lazy and will never end up finishing it)

This is roleplay.

I can make blogs because I can. My memory is shit, and half of the details is probably wrong or bad, I don’t give a shit.

I started role-playing around the time gmod 9 was released. I played on a server called DigitalSoul RP. The community was alright, and had some good roleplay moments. I didn’t know much about roleplay at, you could say I was a minge back then, I did not know about the “NLR” or “metagaming”. I often asked in OOC how to be come cop, and often spelling with stuff with “u” or “y”. I played for about a week, I left after that and never went there again. Eventually I came back to check the server and found it turned serious. I went back and joined the server. It changed alot, and I still did not know about roleplaying. I remember vaguley going to cop and saying their name In-Character, I was told not to metagame and what it is, from there I became more intrested in roleplay. When I came back, they had enforce the RP Name rule, in which you had to use a real-life name instead of a Steam User Name.

As time went by, DSRP got bigger and well-known in the gmod community. They turned full serious (ala TnB) they had a structured combine system, and well written guides on HL2RP. This is where HL2RP started. I eventually got bored of gmod and roleplaying for some reason, I never touched it again until the release of GMOD10. When GMOD10 was released, I had a new steam account. I browsed the server list and saw lots of sandbox servers, to be honest, sandbox was shit back then, but with now all lua shit it’s better. Lets skip to March 2008, I joined a server called “Taco ‘n’ Banana”, they were running a script called tacoscript, made by Rick Dark. I was still, a newb to roleplay. I stayed at TnB laying low, I admired the script and its features, that’s why I stayed there. Eventually I went on and off the server until somewhere in May I came back. I became even more instrested in roleplay, and the combine. I eventually registered on the forums and applied for the CCA (Combine Civil Authority) being a newbie to the server, I was denied. I never came back to TnB until June. I can’t remember what time though, but I joined a community called RazorRP. I stayed there and applied for CP and RP’d there till it’s death. After it died, I went back to TnB, and applied for CCA their again, I was accepted and then began my recruit phase. I ended up failed my eval and being PermaKilled. I left again.

Skip to August, 2008. I have been previously been roleplaying on ICanntRP after I left TnB.  I eventually found out that  SathyrScript was released, I liked the script, it was something new, I was looking for a server who uses it. I met a guy on FacePunch called Averice, his community (www.mmosuite.com) which was barely new. I joined up, asked for admin and both combine control from him, I was given it. I stayed there for months, some of my friends who I known from ICannt joined MMOSuite. From there on, I was an admin. Eventually I was given RDA status then Head Command. I made the server turn shit, but I don’t care to be honest. I made up gay rules but who gives a fuck. I stayed with MMOSuite till early January 2009. In which I raged quit and deleted most of posts and made the faggots there remake it, but they ended up copying and pasting shit I copied and pasted from TaconBanana.

I later then found about HarmonyRP. I stayed with the community after the re-opening event was done. I offered to fix the script for them and they let me.
